Lavender

Lavender breeze,
As she surrounds me,
Perfect bliss,
A bewitching kiss,
Dancing in the sun,
She’ll always be the one,
Whisking off with my heart,
I slowly fall apart,
Always searching,
Yearning,
For my lavender bloom,
Under a summer moon
In that fragrant breeze,
Still haunting me,
Sun kissed skies,
Lavender eyes,
Never again,
Has there ever been,
A gaze like yours,
My memory can’t ignore.

Thoughts: One of the things I love about poetry is its power to express a deep level of emotion. I often find it gives me an outlet in forming a character’s backstory in novel writing. I think of how they would process a difficult moment and the emotions surrounding that moment. How do you get to know your characters?
